• When You Lose A Furry Friend

    when you lose a pet

Saying goodbye to a furry friend is never easy just like it isn’t saying goodbye to family members. When you lose a pet, it’s never easy. These past few months haven’t been easy with me mourning the death of my rabbit. And just recently the whole family mourning the death of our dog. I feel like people underestimate the bond you have with family pets. And what they can do for you in their little ways. I have always been a rabbit person ever since I was little. And have had quite a few rabbits in my lifetime. From my very first rabbit Smokey to my current rabbit Oreo. Catch up on my other lifestyle posts here.

    LOSING MY BUNNY PIP

Saying goodbye to those little fluff balls is very hard to overcome. They do so much for me when I have anxiety attacks and when I’m feeling low. Pip always used to give me kisses on the nose when I felt down and that always made me feel better. I had quite a bond with her as my rabbits Ripple and Smokey had babies. Which I gave one to my friend at the time Georgia, which she named Flopsy and then her sister got a rabbit which they had babies. Georgia gave me one of the babies as a birthday present which was Pip. So she came from 3 generations of rabbits – that’s crazy! So I said goodbye to my best friend unexpectedly on Sunday the 23rd of July.

    LOSING OUR DOG CHARLIE

Then it was suddenly Charlie who we had to say goodbye to and he’s seriously become part of the family as he was such a special dog. We got him from a rescue centre about 11 years ago and since then he has truly captured us with his crazy personality and odd moments. Perfectly happy in every way although suffering from really bad arthritis, he managed to still be an absolute nutter and making us laugh everyday. He was sadly taken from us by mushroom poisoning.

Charlie was put to sleep on the 23rd of August, just days after my Dad’s birthday and let’s just say it was the hardest week of my life. Could barely look at photos or videos of him without bursting into tears for hours. My family are only just coming to terms with such a quiet house and him not being there.

How do you cope with grief? When you lose a pet, how do you feel?
