There are lots of lovely places to eat in and around Cambridge in the Cotswolds (No it’s not THAT Cambridge), which is nearest to the village of Lower Cam. We only visited a couple but there are plenty of others on the list that I have bookmarked for you to check out.
5 PLACES TO EAT IN CAMBRIDGE, COTSWOLDS
01. The Green Dragon
We stopped at The Green Dragon on our way to the cottage as we stopped off at Marlborough to take a look around. There are lots of cool shops there and plenty of places to eat as well. We stopped at The Green Dragon as it was a nice comfy traditional pub that allowed dogs in and their menu looked pretty good. We ordered a portion of cheesy chips and a BLT sandwich with chips on the side that my Mum and Dad shared.
They played lots of really good music in the pub and there was lots of quirky corners and decor. There is quite a lot of choice and the menu is reasonably priced.

02. The Old Fox at Coaley
The first pub we visited in Cambridge was The Old Fox at Coaley which is a lovely pub with a really nice garden and outside eating area. We sat outside as it was a lovely warm evening. It was a very busy pub so I can see it’s very popular and you may need to book a table to avoid disappointment if you want to eat there. Their garden is was decorated with lots of fairy lights and big chunky wooden tables and benches.
We picked their marinated olives, bread, balsamic and olive oil platter to start with and shared it around. I ordered their seafood penne for my main, that came with cooked vine tomatoes, salmon, prawns and rocket. Their menu changes by the season which you can view on their website.
They host lots of other events at the pub including morris dancers and music nights so it’s worth checking if anything is happening when you are visiting.
Location: The St, Coaley, Dursley GL11
03. The Ship Inn
We stopped at The Ship Inn on the off chance whilst on our walk along the canal in Frampton on Severn. Everyone was starting to get hungry so we stopped for a quick bite to eat, we ordered two portions of chips and halloumi fries. They were delicious and definitely hit the spot. We also ordered lots of cold drinks as it was a lovely warm day.

04. Old Badger Inn
The Old Badger was a typical old fashioned pub with dark wooden beams and wooden tables & chairs. The outside area was huge with plenty of benches and comfy seating areas dotted around with a gazebo and a children’s table play area. They also had Aperol deck chairs for a more social area.
We ordered their nachos to share around as we were so hungry. Then I ordered the veggie burger with chips and that was super yummy. If you want to eat at The Old Badger I would recommend booking as it gets so busy, especially the garden on a nice sunny day.
Location: Alkerton Rd, Eastington, Stonehouse GL10 3AT
05. The Catherine Wheel
I didn’t really order or eat much at The Catherine Wheel as I wasn’t feeling great. We stopped off here before we started our drive home, we had drinks outside in the garden earlier in the day and decided to try here for a late lunch/early dinner. I ordered their Whitebait with tartare sauce and a plate of garlic bread. It’s really random I know but it was really good.
It’s a really nice typical pub with a huge garden area and they do really good roast dinners as well. It also has fields and public footpaths behind it so it’s a great location if you want to do a long walk before stopping at the pub for a drink and bite to eat.
Location: Arlington, Bibury, Cirencester GL7 5ND
