So during lockdown, you have to find things to do to fill in the gaps and to keep you occupied. Obviously I’ve been working whilst during lockdown and when on furlough or inbetween work I’ve been finding myself binge watching a lot more series than I used to watch. This has been great as I’ve been finding new loves and things I can’t stop watching. So I thought I would share my favourite recent binges that I’ve found or have rewatched that I loved a long time ago.
MY SERIES & MOVIES BINGE WATCH FAVOURITES // DURING LOCKDOWN
ONCE UPON A TIME (NETFLIX)
I don’t know why I was so late to the band wagon but I randomly came across it on my Netflix profile and suddenly decided to watch it. I honestly don’t know why I didn’t watch it sooner but I absolutely loved it and felt totally lost when I finished the series.
I love the twists and turns that are brought to life for every Disney character and others who are not Disney characters like the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz (which Rebecca Mader plays perfectly – she was born for that role). The perfect twist on Peter Pan, making him the villain from the traditional hero portrayal of the character.
I got so emotional when I finished watching the series to find out it’s been cancelled but I’m really hoping Eddie and Adam can work on bringing together another anthology series that’s similar to Once to life!
Come on, how are you not a #Hooker and #CaptainSwan shipper?!
THE FLASH
I started watching Arrow and fell in love and wanted to watch the rest of the Arrowverse shows because they are so perfectly intertwined and branch out in so many different directions. Plus who doesn’t love a good superhero series or movie! I started watching The Flash a little before lockdown, so wanted to finish it and catch up with the latest season while I could before the new one gets released.
ARROW
My first delve into the Arrowverse multi-verse. I started watching Arrow because of Katherine McNamara (Shadowhunters) – who appears in the final season. But I fell in love with Arrow and the ship Olicity very heavily aha that I couldn’t stop watching! I was so gutted when it ended, I was a little lost for a while, then I jumped straight into The Flash afterwards.
PENNY DREADFUL
This is a new series I have started watching. Because I can’t wait to watch the newly released Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, that stars Dom Sherwood (Shadowhunters) and Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones). I wanted to catch up with the story before watching City of Angels. I love how creepy it is and is set in Victorian England with aspects of Dr Frankenstein in it as well. I’ve only just started so haven’t explored the other characters yet.
CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA (NETFLIX)
This isn’t new to my watch list, as I watched it when it was first released on Netflix but I have been rewatching CAOS so much recently. I’ve purchased Sarah Rees Brennan’s trio of books as well to read whilst we wait for Part 4 (which is soon I hope) and I really hope HBO pick up the series as I can’t believe it was cancelled after Part 4! How dare they!
I’ve loved reading the books as it sort of gives you a different view on the going on in Greendale and you can see how the characters would deal with the issues that arise. I really hope that Sarah branches out and continues Sabrina’s story past Path of Night (her 3rd in the trio of books).
UPDATE: Part 4 was beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time. I really can’t believe it’s over. I really hope another network can pick it up for more seasons or spin offs because I can’t take it if there isn’t more from Greendale.
#Nabrina all the way ! <3
WORK IT (NETFLIX)
This is a lovely little film on Netflix starring Sabrina Carpenter (Singer), Jordan Fisher (To All The Boys I Loved Before: PS I Love You) and Keiynan Lonsdale (The Flash). It’s about a brilliant but clumsy high school senior who vows to get into her late father’s alma mater by transforming herself and a misfit squad into dance champions to win the Work It dance competition. It’s such a feel good movie and all about friendship and conquering your fears. Plus it features Sabrina’s latest track Let Me Move You which was written for the Netflix movie.
THE KISSING BOOTH FILM SERIES (NETFLIX)
Another beautiful film on Netflix and the sequel to the first movie. I just don’t know how you can’t love this film series! You must give it a watch. I really hope Elle chooses Marco in the third movie.
LUCIFER (NETFLIX)
My brother told me about Lucifer when it first came out and I’ve only just added it to my To Watch list. Lucifer also made an appearance in one of the Crisis episodes in the Arrowverse which was a surprise to me but I loved it. I love all the twists about the devil and God and how he’s helping the LAPD solve cases whilst he’s trying to find answers about his own life and falling in love. I am currently watching Season 3 and have nearly finished that. I’m not sure why Seasons 1, 2 and 3 aren’t on Netflix yet – they should be!
UPDATE: I’ve just finished watching all of Lucifer and I loved it. I can’t wait for the new season to be released. I don’t want it to end!
DOLLY PARTON’S HEARTSTRINGS (NETFLIX)
How can you not love Dolly Parton? She is just a complete babe. I watched the first couple of episodes a while ago, I think when it was first released on Netflix and then I suddenly stopped watching, I think I got caught up with Arrow or something at the time. Then I decided to carry on watching the others when I found that Colin O’Donoghue (Once Upon A Time), Willa Holland (Scream Netflix) and Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon A Time) starred in a couple of episodes.
I finished the series and I loved how each episode taught you a different lesson but also explained what Dolly was writing each song about, as each episode is about a certain song in her repertoire. I think my favourite episodes have been JJ Sneed, Jolene and Down From Dover.
TO ALL THE BOYS FILM SERIES (NETFLIX)
If you haven’t watched the To All The Boys movies, what are you doing?! You should definitely watch these. I can’t wait for the third movie to come out. I don’t want them to end. What is going to be thrown Lara Jeans’ way this time!
I have quite a few left on my list on Netflix to still watch – if you have any recommendations give me a shout in the comments.
I have so many other series to watch so I’m slowly working my way through them. Most of them are long running series so it’s going to take some time to watch them all! If you would like to see another binge watch favourites post, let me know in the comments below.

Awesome post! A lot of these shows are already on my watch list waiting to be seen. After my last masters class is over in October I’ll definitely watch them since I’ll have more time after work to watch tv shows again
Thank you 🙂 So many awesome series to get through and so little time aha
These are great recommendations. My dad has been recommending Lucifer to me for ages but my procrastinate-y self has taken such a long time to get round to watching it! I would also recommend OITNB, very easy to binge watch.
It’s such a good series, Tom Ellis is an amazing actor 🙂 Oooh I’ll add that to my list, thanks x
