We get it! Literally thousands of people spend their lives online now. And post their personal and business lives on social media for everyone to see. This is my guide on how to have a positive life online. At certain times it really starts to take it’s toll on you and your mental health. You just really need that space and clarity to remove the negativity from your online life. I have a few tips for you from both learning them myself and by reading what other people have learnt.
HOW TO HAVE A POSITIVE LIFE ONLINE
IF YOU DON’T TALK ANYMORE, REMOVE THEM
You may still follow people from your old school, old job or just simply followed them for the sake of it. But if you literally don’t talk to each other, is there really any point in following them anymore? Remove them from your friends list or following count if they don’t offer anything to you anymore.
ONLY FOLLOW ACCOUNTS THAT MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD
Do you follow accounts that have a particular style or theme? I suggest following accounts that make you feel happy and only spread positive vibes that make you feel good. It is always good to support those who work hard at creating their own positive space on the internet. And to share and engage in that hard work makes you feel good as well. Follow accounts that link in with your interests: whether it be music, travel, collecting crystals, fashion or fitness.
FOLLOW ACCOUNTS THAT INSPIRE YOU
Again linking in with the point above, only follow accounts that inspire you to be a better version of yourself. And make you feel good in your body. I follow some accounts that share inspirational quotes and aim to share things that make the follower feel good whether it be a good workout routine or a healthy recipe to make the follower feel good in their own body.

UNFOLLOW ACCOUNTS THAT CONSTANTLY SPREAD DRAMA/NEGATIVITY
Being a blogger you do come across quite a few people who use their social medias to start arguments and cause ‘blogger drama’, quite often about the most ridiculous things that shouldn’t be caused as drama half the time. I’ve simply unfollowed anyone who causes that kind of drama or spreads that negativity around on my feed.
Because I really don’t need to see everyone ripping into each other when the blogging community is meant to be a loving and supporting place to share – otherwise it just feels like you are back on the school playground with everyone bitching about each other and spreading stupid rumours!
DELETE THE FOLLOWING COUNTING APPS
Most bloggers in their time would’ve downloaded apps that alert them of their social media followings and when people follow and unfollow them but they are the worst culprit to causing unhappiness online especially if you are a blogger and regularly check those apps. Delete them straight away without thinking about it! No one needs to know of when their so called friends unfollow them.
No one needs to be reminded of those horrible follow/unfollow accounts who unfollow you as soon as they get their following from you! This also means that you should have an unfollow clear out whilst still using these apps and unfollow those who don’t follow you back so you are only following accounts that support and appreciate your work.
How do you create a positive life online? What types of accounts do you follow?
As someone new to blogging, I really love that you’ve tackled this topic. Often, it can be very easy to accept negativity into your life, without really acknowledging it. xx
Thank you for commenting! Thank you love, it’s very important that you take care of your mental wellbeing online and only follow and support those you like and make you feel good! xx
