I don’t know if any of you follow Marissa Lace or have heard of the #YearOfYou movement on Twitter or Instagram. This is an Introduction to #YearOfYou! It’s a new thing I have gotten into. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in learning about it and following my journey. It’s basically a movement that some YouTube personalities are starting, one of them being Marissa. It’s basically to become a better you, become happier and healthier. And just basically become a better version of you only for yourself and for no one else.
AN INTRODUCTION TO #YEAROFYOU
A few years ago I had basically hit a low point in my life. With being bullied almost everyday in school from Primary through to Secondary. Because of my flaws, personal tastes and just generally for being myself. I had no idea who I could trust and basically had no friends to turn to. My only best friend turned out to be one of the bullies. Who spread malicious rumours around the school about something that was completely untrue.
A chance to better myself, for myself and only myself.
I had to become the better person and cut all ties with this person. Having to start completely from scratch with friendships and building myself up to become stronger. I am still building myself now – now suffering from severe social anxiety. I struggle to interact with people because I am scared of it happening again.
I also feel like I either can’t trust anyone or that I’m not good enough for people. Or that I’m going to make myself look like an idiot in front of people and embarrass myself. It’s been a very stressful and hard route to go down again. But I am determined to get my life on track and generally become happier with my life. There was points in my life when I just wanted to end it all. But I kept telling myself I could get through this and I would be happier in the end.
Since finding Marissa on YouTube, her videos always cheer my up and her personality is so contagious in a good way. As she always makes me smile and chuckle. A lot of girls look up to her for being the best role model for becoming a happier version of themselves and I am so excited to start this new chapter and be a happier me!
Yoga, meditate, self help books or simply one day at a time.
There are a few activities I have adapted into my life to help with this process. From yoga, meditation, tarot card reading, crystal healing, reading self help books. And generally taking one day at a time and also a few other activities which I will discover along the way. I am looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me and how much my life will change in the future.
