• My first time trying out the popular Tarte foundation, do I like it? A few weeks ago I received my Tarte Splurge Haul and one of the items I purchased was their popular Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Foundation which I have been dying to try as I’ve heard it’s really good for oily skin. If you didn’t already know I suffer from huge pores, acne and really oily skin. It’s really hard finding products that can tackle all three of those skin problems at the same time and I’m hoping this foundation can help a gal out. It’s a rather pricey foundation being in the price range between drugstore and high end but I’m really hoping it’s worth it. The foundation retails for £28 which is probably one of the most expensive foundations I have purchased (other than the Too Faced Born This Way, which I didn’t like in the end.)

    THE PRODUCT
This foundation is famous for its Amazonian Clay ingredients which are designed to help improve skin quality and appearance over time as you wear the product. This foundation claims to have a 12 hour full coverage wear which sounds amazing and does live up to it’s claims. It comes in a huge range of shades and under tones to suit any skin tone. I purchased the shade Ivory as it’s suitable for those with fair to light skin with pink undertones which is perfect for my pale skin and rosacea. A few months before I purchased 2 testers in Ivory and Light Beige to see which shade would suit be best and Ivory was the best one, I also used my Foundation Matrix as well just to confirm I was purchasing the right shade as with spending £28 on a foundation that comes all the way from America, you want to be sure you are buying the right foundation shade. As you probably already know if you are a huge fan of Tarte products is that they always contain skin friendly ingredients and doesn’t use harmful chemicals or test on animals so they are the perfect animal cruelty brand. This foundation contains Amazonian Clay, Vitamin A and Vitamin E which are all really good for the skin. The packaging is very simple, yet very Tarte – I love how innovative their products are. I especially love the bamboo wooden bottle cap on the bottle and the demi matte packaging.

    HOW IT WEARS
This is the perfect shade for my skin and suits my skin tone so well. It has a light mousse texture to it which is very buildable depending on the amount of coverage you want but one layer is a good amount for a everyday amount of coverage, unfortunately for me I need about two layers because my acne is so bad. It feels light on the skin and doesn’t feel heavy or cluggy on the pores. It allows skin to breathe whilst giving you a flawless amount of coverage. It has a satin matte finish which is perfect for those with oily skin like me, this foundation also addresses your unique skin concerts that helps improve overall skin clarity and texture whilst helps cover the appearance of large pores, discolouration and other imperfections.
    LASTING POWER
This foundation has a satin matte finish which is perfect for my oily skin and lasts quite a long time without my skin getting shiny but I do always top up with pressed powder to reduce the shine and oil on my skin. I love using my Urban Decay De Slick and All Nighter setting sprays when I’ve applied my foundation to ensure it lasts all day and it does.

    MY VERDICT
I really like this foundation and it works so well with my oily and acne prone skin. I also love that it’s buildable and also one of the few cruelty free foundations that I love.
