• A brightening foundation with anti fatigue properties, does it work for me? A drugstore foundation with a ‘wake me up’ and anti fatigue system to help brighten up the skin with vitamin C and SPF 15! Rimmel have created a line quite a few years ago called Wake Me Up which contains this foundation, a concealer and a mascara. All with the target of creating a wide awake and fresh faced look. I know quite a few people who have tried this foundation and liked it so since I use the concealer and mascara, I decided to try this foundation out as well. Here’s what I thought of it…

This is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, I am in the shade Ivory, which matches my concealer and some other foundation shades. It matches my skin very well. It has the recognisable smell of other Rimmel foundations and has a familiar texture and consistency. This foundation includes SPF 15, anti fatigue and Vitamin C properties. This is to help create a fresh faced and wide awake look. The bottle is glass with a very slim packaging, it also has a bright orange lid and a pump to pump out the foundation. The packaging is very nice and looks well made. The foundation usually retails for about £8.99, which is just about standard for a drugstore and Rimmel foundation. I have had this foundation in my vanity for quite a while but haven’t really gotten around to trying it out and wearing it, but that changed a few days ago. I decided to give it a try using my normal skincare routine and skin prep products before applying this foundation before I headed out to work.

This foundation has a very lightweight texture and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, it also looked pretty good when I first applied it. But after time it started to come off in patches and looked very oily and showed my oily patches really badly even after applying more pressed powder to my face which was around midday at work.

Even after powdering and setting my makeup with an all day setting spray this foundation didn’t last very long on my oily skin and it started to look really horrible. I feel this foundation would be perfect if you have normal to try skin and like the dewy effect foundations, but if you have oily skin I would stay well away from this foundation.

I’m afraid I didn’t like this foundation at all. It didn’t work well with my oily skin and barely lasted on my skin even after setting it with pressed powder and various setting sprays. The dewy effect of the foundation just didn’t work with my skin. Also this brand isn’t cruelty free so I wouldn’t use it anyway. This foundation is better suited to those with dry skin or those who like a dewy effect in their foundation.

Have you used this foundation before? What do you think of it? Is it your favourite?
