• Our Lovely Hotel In Luang Prabang | Maison Dalabua

Our lovely little hotel Maison Dalabua in Luang Prabang was the perfect place to stay for a relaxing 5 days exploring the city. Luang Prabang is quite a small city in northern Laos right on the edge of the Mekong Delta. It is said to be the best place to explore Laos, as Vientiane is crazy and Vang Vieng is a dead party capital.

MAISON DALABUA // OUR LOVELY HOTEL IN LUANG PRABANG, LAOS

Our hotel was tucked away down a little side street, about a 10 minute walk away from the main part of the city so we weren’t too far away from the action. But it was nice and quiet at night and not near any loud tourist spots. It was such a tranquil hotel and all of the staff were so helpful and always around if you have questions. The hotel room was comfy, clean and filled with everything you might need. I’ll get into more detail a bit later.

    AMENITIES

The hotel offers lots of amenities for you to use during your stay including a spa with lots of treatments, a swimming pool, laundry service, a connected restaurant and all you can eat breakfast buffet every morning.

The swimming pool is a 15 metre with a gradual change in depth the further you go in. It’s rather cold when you first get in but it’s really refreshing on a very hot and humid day. There are various sunbeds around the pool which are very comfortable and are just like oversized bean bags so it’s quite easy to fall asleep in one. Fresh clean towels and cold drinks are available by the pool side should you need them. A short walk from the pool under overhead greenery and flowers is the spa and toilets.

At the spa you can receive various treatments including a traditional Laos massage, manicure & pedicure and spa massages including face, feet, shoulders and neck & back. Book your slot on a date and time that suits you, and relax after a day of exploring or a long flight. You can either pay for your treatment up front or when you check out of the hotel.

    THE ROOM

At the hotel, there are various different rooms and apartments that you can stay in. We stayed in the Classic Room which looks like the above photos, it comes with the option for a twin or king sized bed and features all of the amenities I mention below. The rooms vary in price and size depending on which one you book and also at the time of booking. Maison Dalabua quite often have special offers on their rooms that include breakfast and sometimes other exclusive packages.

The hotel room was simply decorated and filled with the essentials you needed as well as little Laoatian touches from local businesses and craftspeople. The room included quite a big wardrobe with plenty of storage, a safe for all your valuables, a separate room for the bathroom with a walk in shower, toilet and sink and lots of free toiletries for you to use. Next to the door was the dressing table with a large mirror and drawers for you to put your essentials in.

You then had the TV which had lots of international channels on it and news channels so you can get caught up with whatever is going on in the world. The room was also fit with mosquito spray, an air conditioning unit and a small balcony with a view of the lotus ponds with a little bit of privacy from the greenery and plants around it.

The rooms were always kept clean and tidy and the cleaners also offer a turn down service as well which we didn’t require, but it’s there if it’s something you’d like to use. They also have a laundry service you can use as well.

    LOCATION OF THE HOTEL

The hotel is located down a quite side street, not too far from the main part of Luang Prabang town. It’s great because you can’t hear any of the road noise at night and you aren’t far from everything that is going on. Our hotel is a 6 minute walk from Main Street Bar & Grill which is one of the restaurants we visited and I would say is in a good part of the town where things happen.
