Trying out my first foundation product from NARS, do I like it? This is the first foundation based product from NARS that I’ve purchased and tried and I was really intrigued to how it would work with my skin so I made a splurge order on Feel Unique, with a lot of other products I picked up. I have heard so many people rave about this skin base, especially those with oily skin so I thought I would try it and see if it works for me. If you didn’t already know is that I have really bad oily and acne prone skin so I am always on the look out for amazing base products and also now I’ve turned 100% cruelty free with my makeup I am now looking for cruelty free bases that do the exact same thing. I purchased this skin base in the shade Terre-Neuve which I’m hoping is the right shade, I chose this shade using my Foundation Matrix widget which is amazing for finding the best foundation shade for your skin tone. Go check it out if you haven’t.
NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint is a light foundation base with a matte finish which is perfect for those with oily skin or those who like a matte finish to their foundation. It’s not super matte so much so it makes your skin look flat but it’s not dewy either. It’s the perfect satin matte finish. It comes in a long black tube with the signature NARS packaging design and it’s a squeezy tube. It comes in a range of 12 shades from light to dark but I still think they could add a few more shades into their range, as there isn’t much choice for paler shades. It’s 50ml in size which I think is a standard size for foundation – if not please correct me. It claims to give you a effortlessly perfected base with a soft touch that’s ultra-blendable with an oil free formula and SPF 30 protection. It helps blur imperfections and evens the look of skin tone and smooths the appearance of pores and fine lines with a soft matte finish. Wears comfortably maintaining the skins natural moisture barrier whilst working to control shine throughout the day.
HOW IT WEARS
This base blends super easily and feels really nice and lightweight on the skin which I really like. It looked good on the skin and stayed in place throughout the day but I did find that I got super shiny about half way throughout the day which I’m not a fan off. I did powder throughout the day as I normally do but still found I got quite shiny. So I’m thinking of just wearing this on lazy days or when I’m not bothered with how shiny I look. I think this shade matched my skin tone well, it wasn’t too dark but with the right amount of pink undertone to mask my rosacea. Although my mum did say I looked rather pale but that’s because I wasn’t wearing any bronzer so I would have to use bronzer when I wear this so I didn’t look like Caspar the Ghost!
This seemed to last quite well whilst I wore it to work but I probably will only wear this on lazy days as it did make me shiny throughout the day despite powdering midday like normal. It didn’t come off in patches which I like and seemed to stay put.
I think this foundation/skin tint will be best for wearing at home on lazy days.
