• 5 Things To Do In Split

Split was the first stop on my travels in Croatia and I was so excited. Touch down in somewhere with temperatures reaching highs of 30 degrees, especially compared to at home. These are the best things to do in Split. I’ve already composed a list of things you should do in Dubrovnik which I will link further down below. So I wanted to write one on Split and I will have another one on Hvar soon. Make sure to stay tuned if you’re interested. I loved my time in Split as it was very clean and everyone was super friendly.

MY GUIDE OF THE TOP 5 THINGS TO IN SPLIT

SUNSET STROLLS ALONG SPLIT’S RIVA (PROMENADE)

Split’s Riva is a lovely long promenade going along the waterfront from Split’s harbour to the other end. At the other end is Marjan Forest Park. On one side you have the waterfront and on the other side you have lots of restaurants and shops. They are great for checking out and sitting down to have dinner at.

    HIKING MARJAN FOREST PARK

If you haven’t already read my post on hiking the Marjan Forest Park then make sure you do. It’s an amazing forest hike that’s perfect for those who love doing something active on their travels and you also get a beautiful view of Split from the viewpoint with the Croatian flag blowing in the wind. It takes about an hour depending on how athletic you are which you can either do at a slow pace or if you’re super fit then you could run or jog it.

Fancy doing something active whilst you’re in Split, why not hike Marjan Forest Park?

WALK AROUND SPLIT’S MANY SHOPS & MARKETS

Split has many shops and markets around the main square, including a very popular underground market right next to and under the Diocletian’s Palace & Tower. There are also plenty of outdoor markets in which you can pick up various things from tourist items and clothing.

EXPLORE DIOCLETIAN’S PALACE & BELL TOWER OF SAINT DOMNIUS

Although I haven’t done it myself, I do know people have done it and it’s obviously personal preference. As I’ve heard both good things and bad things about it but it’s worth checking out if you like that type of thing. It is a beautiful thing to look at however if you don’t go inside especially when the sun is setting. If you fancy checking out Diocletian’s Palace and the Bell Tower of Saint Domnius you should.

HEAD TO THE BEACH AND CHILL

The best thing we did after landing in Split and dropping off our luggage at the hostel was to get changed and head down to the beach to relax and get to know everyone. There are different parts to the beach from a more stoney beach to the popular sandy beach with various rock formations that you can jump from or an inflatable obstacle course on the sea.

Are you planning on visiting Split soon? What would you like to do?
